Dryland SA is an ag equipment manufacturer founded August 2014 by Chris Wood. Dryland SA is designing and building self-driving farm implements used for spraying, fertilizing and seeding cereal grain and pulse crops like wheat, corn, peas, lentils and soybeans.

Dryland SA’s disruptive innovation is based on right sizing of the self-driving implements that allows for a cost of 1/4th the price of current ag machinery. For a cost of $250,000.00, a fleet of 20-Dryland agbots can match the field work of a $650,000.00, operator driven tractor pulling a $350,000.00 planter. With Dryland’s agbots the farmers won’t be stuck in the seat of a tractor and won’t be wasting money on dumb iron.

Dumb iron is just the large, heavy steel implement and tractor chassis frames of current machinery. Capital equipment and operating expenses are two of the key items that farms control for their profitability and Dryland’s products will give them significant leverage in this area.

Unlike other ag machinery equipment manufacturers who are working fit the self-driving capabilities onto their current big tractors and implements, Dryland is focused on low cost, small, simple, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) sized implements that are extremely adaptable to varying terrain and crop conditions.
